Postdoc scholarship at the ENSTA ParisTech Lab. Research in the field of Deep Learning, 3D Machine Vision and Human-Machine Interaction. Efficient application of 3D ConvNet architectures within the domain of 3D object recognition with a special focus on hand gesture recognition from time-of-flight sensor data. Research in the field of in-air hand gesture applications for in-car infotainment control with a special focus on driver distraction. Development of real-time applicable algorithms for sensor fusion and rotation-invariant object recognition and tracking. Project Leader for a drone-based object recognition system for indoor applications.

Development of a hand gesture recognition module based on time-of-flight sensor data with a special focus on automotive HMI. Project Leader in a collaborative project with the research facility and industry partners. Hand-model-based approach for efficient real-time Hand Gesture Recognition and tracking. Development of an infotainment test environment for mobile devices for usability testing and UX evaluation. Responsible for acquiring the funding from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research for a project duration of three years.

PhD Thesis entitled ’Neural Learning Methods for Human-Machine Interaction’ - (summa cum laude). Analysis and development of novel of Machine Learning algorithms in multidimensional feature spaces with an application focus in the domain of 3D hand gesture recognition. Data-driven approach for the efficient development of fusion algorithms for neural networks and optimization for the task of 3D-object recognition. Evaluation of HMI-related questions regarding user intuition within the domain of touch vs free-hand gestures. In-depth analysis on the learnability of in-air gestures, transfer of learning for novel users and questions regarding the cognitive load of drivers.

Co-founded startup company (Awesome Apps) targeted at App development for mobile devices. Customer acquisition, Lead management, Concept development, Project Management and programming of mobile applications for large industrial corporations in the field of automotive, publishing and retail (amongst others). Experience in user-centered design, development of novel and innovative interaction techniques for maximization of UX.

Software Development in the field of Natural Language Processing. Focus on developing a natural language parser for German in Java. Improvement of current research results with the help of Machine Learning and corpus-based boosting.
