The Western Riverside Council of Governments (WRCOG) Public Service Fellowship is a nine-month program. Each Fellow is paired with an agency that provides 960 hours of public service opportunities.

The Legislative Intern serves the Riverside County Board of Supervisors. In this capacity, Thomas worked with Supervisor Jeff Hewitt and staff for the Fifth District of Riverside County. The duties of the Legislative Intern included: engaging with the Riverside County community, answering constituent phone calls, research and data reports for the Board of Supervisors, speech writer for Supervisor Hewitt, and aiding in day-to-day office operations.

Reinforcement of UCR’s 100% Smoke-free policy along with bridging communication on campus between students, faculty, and staff. Annual events held through this program are Fall and Spring “Butt Bash” community events, where volunteers pick up cigarette butts on campus. The number of cigarette butts is recorded and analyzed in comparison with previous years.
