I am amazed and inspired by my dad by how he can always think out of the box to solve problems as the excavator specialist. Seeing how hard my parents worked to raise the seven of us, I learned to be determined and focused on becoming a person that can be useful to the community as a mechanical engineer. Thanks to the support of my family and mates, I managed to graduate from UoA with First Class Honours. Realising the importance of hands-on experience, I served as an Assistant Site Manager with Smith and Loveless NZ Ltd during the construction and commissioning of a water treatment plant for Pacific Steel. I learned to listen and provide instructions to other contractors during the construction of the plants.I also served as a mechanical design engineer with Moda Systems NZ Ltd, which specialises in food packaging machines, mainly for meat plants in the USA and Australia. Throughout my career, I was responsible for the sheet metal guards design for more than eight plants, designing and maintaining the BOM for various sub-assembly, liaising and negotiating prices with local and international suppliers, creating parts manuals, assisting the floor manager with construction and commissioning of the machines. Working in Moda nurtured my resilience and persistence in dealing with hiccups under a stressed moment, especially if there are differences between fabrication and design or there are discrepancies of opinions between different parties in the companies. I am a big believer in giving back to the community. For that reason, you can always find me as a volunteer in Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Temple New Zealand with various chores such as gardening, cooking, cleaning up and assisting in multiple projects such as the Art Salon, Cherry Blossom Festival and Children's Dharma Class.
