I’m a valuation professional and a people leader passionate about pushing forward thought leadership, innovation, and the ideals of promoting a positive workplace culture to do so.I have over 20 years of experience in public practice and lead KPMG Valuation Services’ complex financial instruments team. I also serve as the chair of the IVSC Financial Instruments board (www.ivsc.org), an organization with the objective of developing global valuation standards and guidance.I pride myself in having a strong technical background and being solutions oriented but I also understand that complex problems can often be best solved by a dynamic team rather than by an individual. I believe in the value of people. I believe intelligent, well fostered, motivated people are the conduit to innovation and thought leadership.As a leader, I’m a strategic thinker who understands the importance of perspective, pivoting, and finding balance between execution excellence, investing in growth, and people management. I’ve successfully navigated my practice, which I built from the ground-up, through the global adoption of IFRS, the 2008 financial crisis, the introduction of Basel III and currently the hybrid remote working environment of Covid-19.My journey as a professional has allowed me to engage with leading academic and industry experts from around the world with whom I’ve collaborated and debated with; experiences from which I’ve had the pleasure of learning from. In addition, my interactions with regulators (from tax, audit, banking, and securities exchanges) including my involvement as a standard setter with the IVSC, has taught me how to better navigate the complexities of regulation compliance; and maybe more importantly to better understand the core principles and influences that underlie why they exist.My perspective continues to evolve, and my tool kit continues to grow. I’ve learned to listen and reflect as a client service professional, as a colleague, as a mentor and a mentee, and as a past member of my firms I&D committee. “Success is measured not by the heights you attain, but by how you arise when you fail”.
