As a member of Thales Services, I'm experimenting with new means to improve the software quality and robustness at Thales LAS through various innovative technologies. This includes fuzz-testing (with SoA tools such as American Fuzzy Lop), use of Numerical Stability tools (implementing the CESTAC method such as Verrou and Cadna) and Software formal verification (through Adacore's Spark framwork).

Indeed optimizing a program to reduce its WCET is vastly different than optimizing for the Average Execution Time (ACET) and has not been very successfully investigated yet. I have also been in charge of testing, debugging and validating parts of the polyhedral compilation toolchain of GeCoS, a source-to-source compilation framework, with the goal of integrating it to the ARGO toolchain. I have also conducted some experiments to expose how polyhedral compilation could be used to tighten WCET estimations on Scratchpad Memory (SPM) based systems, focusing on automatic loop fusion and array contraction. The goal of… Show more Title : Automatic detection of single execution paths sections of code for WCET computationStatic Worst Case Execution Time (WCET) estimation tools such as Heptane are used to find a safe upper bound of the WCET of a program running on a specific hardware. It is done through static analysis of source code, assembly code and binaries. Such analysis may make some pessimistic yet safe assumptions regarding the program behavior, especially in presence of nested loops. The goal of this internship was thus to statically detect regions of code with a deterministic execution behavior, regardless of the program inputs or hardware state and retrieve their precise, not overestimated, execution times through simulation.
