As a member of Thales Services, I'm experimenting with new means to improve the software quality and robustness at Thales LAS through various innovative technologies. This includes fuzz-testing (with SoA tools such as American Fuzzy Lop), use of Numerical Stability tools (implementing the CESTAC method such as Verrou and Cadna) and Software formal verification (through Adacore's Spark framwork).

As an engineer in IRISA Cairn Team, I have been working in the context of the european ARGO project :"The goal of the ARGO (WCET-Aware Parallelization of Model-Based Applications for Heterogeneous Parallel Systems) research project is to develop a tool-chain which translates model-based Scilab/Xcos applications into multi-core optimized C code with guaranteed real-time constraints"You can find out more about the ARGO -project here : http://www.argo-project.eu/As such, I… Show more As an engineer in IRISA Cairn Team, I have been working in the context of the european ARGO project :"The goal of the ARGO (WCET-Aware Parallelization of Model-Based Applications for Heterogeneous Parallel Systems) research project is to develop a tool-chain which translates model-based Scilab/Xcos applications into multi-core optimized C code with guaranteed real-time constraints"You can find out more about the ARGO -project here : http://www.argo-project.eu/As such, I have been researching the state of the art of Worst Case Execution Time (WCET) oriented program transformations and optimization. Indeed optimizing a program to reduce its WCET is vastly different than optimizing for the Average Execution Time (ACET) and has not been very successfully investigated yet. I have also been in charge of testing, debugging and validating parts of the polyhedral compilation toolchain of GeCoS, a source-to-source compilation framework, with the goal of integrating it to the ARGO toolchain. I have also conducted some experiments to expose how polyhedral compilation could be used to tighten WCET estimations on Scratchpad Memory (SPM) based systems, focusing on automatic loop fusion and array contraction. The results of this research will be published in a scientific paper that will be presented at the DATE 2018 conference.https://www.date-conference.com/Skills demonstrated:- Understanding of Real-time compilation and optimization challenges- Understanding of Polyhedral compilation- Cross-compilation (from X86_64 host to sparc-LEON3 target)- Code integration in large scale project- Programming language : C / C++ / Java Show less

It is done through static analysis of source code, assembly code and binaries. Such analysis may make some pessimistic yet safe assumptions regarding the program behavior, especially in presence of nested loops. The goal of this internship was thus to statically detect regions of code with a deterministic execution behavior, regardless of the program inputs or hardware state and retrieve their precise, not overestimated, execution times through simulation. Such timings could then be safely merged with the timings extracted through static analysis to tighten the overall WCET estimation.Skills demonstrated :- Understanding of WCET computation issues and challenges- Understanding of Static data flow analysis- in-depth understanding of hardware mecanism (Memory hierarchies, instruction pipelining, processor behavior... )- Programming language : C/C++ Show less
