The CAPA program in Dublin is one of eight CAPA programs, located in Europe, Asia, Australia, and South America, in which U.S. undergraduate students are afforded the opportunity to stay abroad. Specifically, CAPA Dublin provides a unique blend of CAPA led courses and programing, while also allowing students take courses through Griffith College, our host and partner in Dublin.Unlike many other study abroad programs, CAPA's focus is on both learning in the classroom and through a wide selection of internship placements. For students looking to gain professional experience while also living abroad, this program offers something for everyone.In my role at CAPA Dublin, I oversee general student wellbeing, internship coordination, and provide administrative support to the office. My tasks include, but are not limited to:Research and visit potential new Internship sites, secure a data base and coordinate placement of students. Strategic development of future internship sitesSupport the Director of Program and Student Services with all elements of program planning and implementationAssist with event planning specifically, arrival and departure events, mid-semester dinners, My Global City events, and accompany students on field trips and other celebrations which may fall outside of normal office hours.Provide support to visiting faculty, including organizing field studies for individual programs, making bookings, and maintaining program-related communications to students and faculty.Play a very active role in the arrival and induction period for students. In Collaboration with the Director of Program and Student Services, respond to student queries and problems as they arise; and utilize internal and external support services when necessary.Be available on the CAPA emergency phone number on a rotational basis with the Senior Program Coordinator, providing 24/7 support when on-call and assisting students in the event of emergency situations

I support the work of the Institute, specifically supporting the work of the Program in International Education (PIE). This is a program that works with international students attending three of Bard's five international partners. These are Smolny College in Saint Petersburg, Russia; American University of Central Asia in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan; and Al-Quds Bard in Ramallah, Palestine. Students who are accepted into the program are provided a full ride for one semester (including tuition, room, and board), and are placed in one of three campuses; these include: Bard College Berlin in Berlin, Germany; Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York; and Bard's globalization and International Affairs Program (BGIA) in New York City, New York.Tasks involved:Organize and oversee the application process, in addition to the review processAccept and Enroll between 20 and 35 studentsSupport students in the visa process and prepare them for their time at Bard College and in the U.S.Organize orientation for students, covering: student safety, mental health, cultural adjustment support, academic overview, and a wide variety of other topicsOrganize cultural and teaching events for students during their time in the U.S. This includes preparing tours of historic sites (i.e the FDR Library and house, historic Kingston, Lookout Mountain, etc.), planning cultural events (International education Week support), and teaching events, including a panel discussion about how to apply to grad school in the U.S. as an international student.Work with students whenever personal challenges may ariseSupport the administrative tasks in the office, both related to the PIE program and the Institute in general

Bard's English Summer Language Intensive (BESLI), is a program that brings students from Smolny College in Saint Petersburg, Russia, to the U.S., in order to help them improve their English speaking skills. In this roll, I served as a Peer Mentor and Activities Coordinator.In addition to supporting the students as a peer mentor and planning events for them, I also worked with the director to oversee the team of student interns supporting the program. This involved running daily checkins with the other mentors, and assigning them tasks. Supporting the oversight of the program as a whole was a key component of this position. This role also put me in charge of social media and promotion prior to and during the course of the program.

Serving as director of a silent retreat. Tasks included room set up and take down, audio/visual/lighting setup, note taking, and a wide variety of administrative tasks. This work was done individually, while I also supported the work of the other instructors leading the retreat itself. I led daily meeting with the team, assessing what was working, what wasn't working, and what needed to change day by day. At the conclusion of the retreat, I was responsible for crafting a report and follow-up with other supervisors.
