About Thomas Luke Jackson

I am a graduate of Bard College, where I majored in Global and International Studies, and spent my time as a student leader and advocate. Most recently, I worked as the Student Services and Internship Coordinator at CAPA: The Global Education Network. While I was a student, I worked with a range of campus groups. I was a Peer Counselor my Sophomore year, being primarily tasked with mediating conflicts between students, creating, organizing and coordinating inclusive events for students and staff, as well as overseeing budget and event reporting. In addition, I spent time working with Bard's ESL program, where I designed and implemented lesson plans to teach local migrants English. I also aided individual volunteer events organized by the Center for Civic Engagement (CCE), and served as a member on the Senior Class Council.Post graduation, I worked as a Fellow at the Institute for International Liberal Education. There I connected with international students, showing them the Hudson Valley area, in addition to gaining a deeper understanding of their culture and languages. Most recently, I worked with CAPA: the Global education Network in Dublin, Ireland, working with U.S. students studying in Dublin. I have spent the last year working as a caregiver for my father. When he was diagnosed with cancer last year, I was called home to support him and my family. I spent the last 14 months or so serving as a liaison for him, in addition to handling daily tasks and addressing challenges as they arose. I am driven to help others who do not feel empowered, to building deeper and meaningful connections, and to improve the lives of those who do not feel like they have a voice. I am looking for work that allows me to enrich my own knowledge of the world and that helps others gain a new perspective.
