I have over 20 years of experience in the field of biotechnology. I began my career studying how genetic modifications affect the protein structure-function relationship involved in the etiology of ALS. And those studies propelled me to study how genetics and the environment collaborate to impact nutrient uptake and distribution. From there I studied the molecular mechanisms through which cells communicate via hormones. In the last 14 years, I have been the CSO of a company that uses evolution to improve microorganisms for fermentation purposes, from the production of renewable chemicals to the production of pharmaceuticals. I have been managing successful scientific teams for over 20 years over a wide range of disciplines. More than that, I have been intimately involved in client relations, business development and strategic decision making. I have proven that I can adapt to any new concept and lead a team to reach the desired goal. And I have extensive experience moving those goals towards commercialization.
