The role was to create a new entity for commercial mining for TATA Steel. Acquiring mineral blocks of importance such as Chromite, iron ore etc and start mining operations after all regulatory steps. Developing the Chrome value chain from ore mining, conversion to ferro chrome and then delivery to global customers. Building the organisation with a new team, connecting with ecosystem and carry forward the TATA way of delivering value to all stakeholders.

Ferro Alloys and Minerals business of Tata Steel is world's leading ferro chrome supplier and the largest ferro chrome producer in India with over 450 KT. With a value chain spread from mining and manufacturing of ferro alloys (Cr and Manganese) and sales to global customers in Japan, China, Korea and the USA. Business turnover of over ₹ 5000 CR and about 4000 people.

Leading the strategy development and follow through for the Raw Materials division with open cast and underground coal mines, Iron ore , Manganese, Chrome and dolomite mining operations.Tasked with acquisition of new mining assets as well as optimizing the current resources with a view of the Tata Steel’s capacity growth plans and changes in technology. Engage with stakeholders of Raw Materials division as well as professional bodies at national level

Responsible for 100% of captive iron ore requirements for Tata Steel through 4 mines and 4000 people in Jharkhand and Orissa. The role include all round management of the Iron ore mining from Mine planning, beneficiation and logistics to steel plants, including HRM, Admin, Procurement, F&A and stakeholder management.Additional responsibility of a brown field mine expansion project and other sustenance projects

Worked as Executive in charge of Western Africa, exploring and developing new mineral projects in West and Central Africa with extensive interaction with countries of Liberia, Guinea, Gabon among others

Responsible for identification, due diligence, evaluation, structuring, negotiation and acquisition of raw materials assets. Played key role in an Iron Ore, Coal and a Limestone projects acquisitions in this period

Managed two fully mechanized hematite Iron ore mines with over 1200 employees and production levels of over 7 Mtpa with overall responsibility from planning, mining, beneficiation to dispatch and sales. Extensive interface with government bodies in Jharkhand, Orissa & Delhi.Instrumental in planning and execution of Brownfield expansion of the mine as well as implementation of Jigging process for fines beneficiation (concept development to installation & commissioning, first of its kind in Asia).Handled Environmental Clearance, Public hearing and Forest diversion proposal for mine expansion.

Worked as Statutory Manager and head of a 4 Mtpa iron ore mine, in India with 450 employees. Also Project Owner for planning and opening of a new block in the same permit and conceptual project planning for another new mine.

Operated from Ivory Coast to lead the Greenfield iron ore project with exploration, including stakeholder management, CSR and budgets. Established safety processes and Tata business ethics protocols with diverse group of employees. Completed over 4000 KM of Helicopter borne Geophysical survey, over 100 KM of access roads, Geological Mapping, drilling campaign (+10000 M), well logging leading to resource estimation. Feasibility Study to integrate various aspects of the project including beneficiation tests, ~400KM Rail/pipe transportation and new port along with international consultants.Designed and executed community initiatives such as employment generation, educational support, medical camps, skill development and sports as a way to unite people in the region. Ensured safety and security processes including sensitive security situation during post electoral crisis (Nov ‘10 – June ’11) including evacuations, protection of people and assets and eventual re-start of work.

Lead a taskforce formed to evaluate Global Iron ore business as a growth option for Tata Steel. Also studied all ports in Eastern India and finalized "Dhamra" as a cape size port for Tata Steel’s imports, which is subsequently built and in operation now
