I was originally hired as an Android developer in a team of 3 software developers. I took over an Android application with very little handover from the previous developer. For 2 years, I added a lot of consumer-facing functionality to the Android application, while revising existing features and algorithms, which greatly improved the performance and readability of the code. Our team then translated the Android application into a mixture of C++ and Python code and ported the application to a Linux-based platform using Docker. The technical challenges we faced during this process, brought me to introduce a freelancer to the project. I was in charge of the onboarding process for this freelancer and it was crucial to our then-deadline that we brought them into our project when we did. Our project also included multiple AI models, one of which, was specially developed in-house through collaboration between our AI specialist and me. During my final months at the company, I created an internal GUI test tool in Python, which helped us visualize the quality of our product’s performance. I also wrote a set of standalone Python scripts that reformatted and recalculated a large quantity of data to make it more human-readable. These tools were essential in significantly increasing the quality and performance of our product.We used Bitbucket for version control and Jira for our tasks and planning purposes, but later we moved to Github and Github Issues. We used daily morning meetings to keep everything on track. We used Firestore for our backend, where I mostly spent time with the Firestore Database and Rules. I also spent a little time working with Angular for our web dashboard.

I started working at Saphe when it was still just a garage project with only 3 employees, including myself and the founder. With no previous experience with the two mobile platforms, I became the first and only iOS and Android developer at Saphe. In close collaboration with the founder and the other software developer, I created the first versions of the Saphe Link application used by more than 100.000 users, before the company grew to around 30 employees, with a development team of 8 people. I used the native languages Objective-C, Swift, Java, and Kotlin, as well as the Bluetooth Low Energy API to communicate with the external Saphe devices. I had many meetings and conversations with the founder leading to important decisions in the company’s development. I took on tasks such as text authoring, creating custom graphics, web design, and more, to ensure the company’s success. This was especially important in the earlier stages of the company’s lifetime when we didn’t have the funds to hire others to perform these tasks. As our product development team grew, I was part of the hiring process for our first dedicated team lead. I helped onboard our new iOS and Android developers. I assisted our industrial designer in creating user manuals for new products. I spent a lot of time with my team lead, HR, and the founder discussing ways to improve our workflows and the company’s internal culture to adapt it to the natural changes it was going through, due to its growth.
