I spearheaded the leadership of all operational activities of the fulfillment operation arm. In this position, I utilized extensive business systems experience to analyze work flow and organizations to identify redundancies, inefficiencies, and missing operations and reengineer cost-effective. solutions that increase efficiency and lower costs. I managed an operating budget of $2.25 Million, 34 full-time employees, 50 to 100 variable employees, and three vendors in Mexico, China, and Jamaica. We processed 70M pieces of incoming mail comprised of contest entries, product orders, payments, and various other types of correspondence within a 3-day timeframe. I also implemented a cross-training program for managers and supervisors that resulted in a 40% reduction in supervisory workforce, saving PCH $200K per annum. In addition, I saved the company $20K per annum by reorganizing work schedules to match work volumes, eliminating overtime and reducing the demand for part-time labor.

Blue Groove was an Independent music store targeted at consumers aged 30 through 55 interested in jazz, blues, rock and folk music that became a destination store for its market. As owner and manager, I created, managed, and grew a profitable retail music business with responsibility for total business operations. I developed the initial business plan and marketing strategy, secured initial capitalization, and maintained banking relations to fund the on-going business. I orchestrated purchasing, inventory management, merchandising, promotions, advertising, accounting, vendor relations, product sales, and staff recruitment,. I led the business to profitable operations during the first year. We had a successful mail order business, and built sales to $460/sq ft.

As an internal systems consultant, I led and directed daily operations of 25-person department responsible for designing, updating, and delivering financial systems applications. Orchestrated the activities of systems analysts and programmers that wrote, tested, and documented software programs. My work led to the creation of seven automated systems that saved NYC $7M a year.
