I was born in El Paso and graduated from U.T. El Paso (Flyin’ Miners). To show how fickle fate can be, and that sometimes one decision completely changes the trajectory of your life, I changed my entire future in an instant. One night after skiing all day, I was with my friend Barry, and out of nowhere he said “I’m moving to California.” I was surprised and asked him why. He said he had gone to San Diego to watch our team (UTEP Miners) play the San Diego State University Aztecs and San Diego was awesome. Without really thinking about it, I said “I’ll go with you!” Twenty-seven years later I was still in “SoCal” and had a beautiful wife and two grown boys. We had become the perverbial “Empty Nesters”, so my wife said “Let’s move back to Texas.” It wasn’t hard to convince me, so now, here I am, living in green Texas Hill Country north of San Antonio. As Maxwell Smart would say, “And loving it!”
