Responsible for the day to day running of the communications department on various sizes of vessels, maintaining satellite data links, HF broadcast and various shipto shore systems.Allocating manpower for part of ship maintenance and watchkeeping duties. Maintainingmaintenance databases and coordinating with other departments for planning purposes.Based at the Maritime Warfare School; teaching Communications equipment principles, procedures, management and all Tactical aspects includingpractical assessments of trainees.Line manager duties include staff appraisals, coaching, motivation and making recommendations for promotion. Responsible for the safe manoeurvreing of theship during replenishment operations, reporting only to the Command.Fully trained in the Defence Information Infrastructure system including equipment,maintenance of Servers, Sans, UPS and UAD's. Producing Sanctuary and Netcool reportsfor system also the use of Sharepoint to produce teamsites. ASM duties include creationand deletion of user accounts through AD/QARS with correct permissions. Maintaining network connectivity through satellite bearer. Carrying out Software updates and Hotfix patches during quiet hours in order to mimise system downtime.
