I am an ambitious and dedicated individual investigating the electrokinetic in-situ decontamination of radioactivity within a concrete matrix, aiming to determine the efficacy of the process for the decontamination and decommissioning of the concrete used in the construction of nuclear storage ponds. I am due to complete my PhD in January 2024 and aiming to obtain employment within the nuclear or environmental sector over the coming years. I am interested in novel decontamination methods used for construction materials and investigating the efficacy of these process through analytical techniques.I am currently based in the National Nuclear Laboratory in Workington, Cumbria, UK working as a part of the Centre of Innovative Nuclear Decommissioning (CINDe) operating as a satellite student from Lancaster University. I am working under the supervision of Prof. Colin Boxall and Prof. Malcolm Joyce from Lancaster University and Prof. Anthony Banford from the National Nuclear Laboratories.I am finding the work fascinating and looking forward to the new challenges ahead.
