Alcohol Education Specialist
CurrentAssists the Supervisor of the Bureau of Alcohol Education’s Education and Grants Management Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. Provides technical assistance to institutes of higher education, community organizations, schools, and local law enforcement. Participates in the planning, coordination and facilitation of the statewide annual conference. Creates and revises materials distributed by the bureau using both evidence-informed and innovative messages and media to proactively respond to emerging trends. Receives materials orders from Bureau Secretary; identifies and packages available materials from stock on hand in preparation for shipping.Prepares and gives presentations concerning alcohol education initiatives.Represents the board at local, regional and statewide events on an as needed basis. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with grantees, other state agencies, judicial and municipal officials and the general public.Assists the Responsible Alcohol Management Program Division as needed.Schedules and coordinates meetings, trainings, exhibits and workshops facilitated by the bureau. Remains current on issues related to underage and dangerous drinking. Reviews and scores grant applications to determine adherence to requirements.Participates in the coordination of the statewide poster contest and awards ceremony. May serve as lead worker to other staff; providing, guidance and direction.Conveys, interprets, and explains grant services, objectives, policies, and procedures to legislators, professional associations, and others as requested.Develops record keeping procedures for purposes of evaluating program effectiveness and efficiency. Monitor the grantee’s expenditure of funds to ensure fiscal accountability and accuracy.Assists in providing technical assistance to PLCB grantees. Conducts site visits as needed to monitor compliance with grant agreements as deemed necessary.
