America One, Inc., is a Michigan-based independent insurance agency franchising operation specializing in offering property, casualty, and affiliated coverage lines to individuals and business owners.As President, I am responsible for the successful operation of this 30 year organization. My duties include profitably growing the corporation by recruiting and retaining franchisees, enhancing carrier relations, directing all needed activities, and monitoring results.

Provided human resources, employee recruiting and assessment services to the firm's multi-industry clientele.

Responsible for the operations of a multi-state insurer by directing a nine member team of vice presidents and department managers accountable for all functional areas of the enterprise.Managed the strategic planning program to assure proper development, execution, and timely completion of all objectives and goals. Guiding this process resulted in the corporate expansion and diversification of premium writings. During my incumbency the company received licensing authority to enter five new states and to begin offering coverage to all industry groups in addition to the construction sector. These initiatives increased market penetration and annual revenue.Monitored the company's operating performance by analyzing monthly profit and loss information and determining the variances between actual and forecasted amounts. Evaluated the organization's product and service programs with actuaries to determine adequate rates and pricing postures. When applicable, implemented new underwriting methodologies to strengthen results. Increased the entity's asset base, annual estimated premium revenue, returned the pure loss ratio to an acceptable range, and maintained an A.M. Best rating of A-(excellent) for ten consecutive years during my tenure.Created a model agency program to structure producer recruitment and retention, identify development and training needs, determine annual premium commitments, and evaluate yearly performance. Executed an agency contingency commission incentive plan to entice new business growth. Appointed and terminated agents based on production needs and loss ratio results.Directed the annual budget process and reviewed results monthly to determine if cash flow, expenditures, and vendor usage were within approved guidelines. Reported all financial information quarterly to the Board of Directors.Selected staff, mentored and coached managers in all functional areas to enhance their skills.

During my tenure with this organization I developed a book of workers' compensation business primarily consisting of physicians, medical facilities, and institutional clients, in addition to establishing an E-commerce platform to allow the purchase of insurance products by accessing the company's web site.

While employed with Citizens, my responsibilities included the underwriting of a $6 million portfolio of commercial property and casualty policies, as well as co-authoring a new umbrella form and offering the coverage on a monoline basis.

I was responsible for servicing a $7.0 million book of casualty policyholders in a five state region.

Following a comprehensive training program I became a multi-line underwriter.
