Kaplan Inc. is a nation wide educational company based in New York. I am responsible for most of their facilities in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

This is a part-time position that allows me to handle a range of responsibilities at different locations. I am asked to help execute office moves, build furniture, change light bulbs, light plumbing work, hang pictures, or mount monitors. I love Q's innovation and uniqueness. This is a tech heavy company, even for a handyman/helper. I typically work between five and ten hours and have really enjoyed my time at Q!

I was responsible for 16 floors in 2 buildings. I was constantly responding to calls for service and doing checks on floors for preventitive maintenance. My duties included fixing minor plumbing issues, i.e. flushometers, lavatory cartridges, P traps, coordinating and scheduling outside contractors for larger scale jobs. I changed and ordered light bulbs, constructed, fixed and modified office furniture, scheduled and executed office moves, stocked and maintained conference rooms, hung fine artwork, pictures, shelves, and television monitors, adjusted and troubleshooted HVAC systems, and coordinated and scheduled cleaning of offices.

During my experience as mailroom clerk, I collected and delivered mail, UPS and interoffice envelopes, weighed and applied the proper postage for mail, maintained and stocked pantries, ordered stock for pantries and office supplies, and carried packages to different parts of the city for executives.

In this role, I had to attain the proper certifications and necessary training experience to become a police officer. As a police officer, I wrote reports and citations, answered a variety of calls in high stress environments, resolved conflicts, and was able to multi-task. For example, I often had to drive while communicating on the radio and looking at my computer.
