Developed and boosted bare 1Q gate to robust >99.5% Clifford RB fidelity (before pulse-shaping and composite pulsing) across 70+ qubits with a roadmap for further calibration improvements.• Designed, optimized, and stabilized automated calibration pipelines for 1Q and 2Q gate, including pulse durations, light shifts, entangling phase, AOD intensity array flattening, feedback, & unit tests—all working within the constraints of or expanding upon a complex pre-existing software stack. Pipelines run daily overnight.• Developed a novel pulse train using numerical simulations of composite pulses to address a narrow-line transition in the Lambe-Dicke regime with spatial discretion—fundamental to 2Q gate in computer used by customers.• Upgraded and maintained quantum computing stack (optical, RF, electronics) and data analysis pipeline; enabled customizable experiment coding.

(1) Probing and Controlling Dimensionality of Strongly-Interacting Spin Systems in Diamond-Context: Quantum simulations are needed to study how our mundane macroscopic world emerges out of weird quantum phenomena. Dense ensembles of Nitrogen-Vacancy (NV) impurities in diamond promise to perform such quantum simulations.-My Impact: Engineer and maintain the optical, microwave, and magnetic field systems in the experimental apparatus. Run Monte Carlo models to interpret and predict behavior of the simulation. Design modifications to the experimental apparatus and measurement protocols. Code automated experimental control, data collection, and calibration in Matlab, including targeted image correlation.DAMOP 2020(2) Imaging the Local Charge Environment of Nitrogen-Vacancy Centers in Diamond-Context: Using NVs as nanoscale sensors of signals originating from outside the diamond requires careful calibration of the environment inside the diamond. We proved that a common signal intrinsic to certain NV density regimes is electrical in origin, permitting the ability to accurately calibrate its effects. -My Impact in addition to above: Co-devised novel dark stat tomography technique for localizing symmetry-breaking perturbations on the nanoscale.https://journals.aps.org/prl/abstract/10.1103/PhysRevLett.121.246402(3) Imaging Stress and Magnetism at High Pressure Using a Nanoscale Quantum Sensor-Context: Since pressure can drastically alter the fundamental properties of matter, Diamond Anvil Cells (DAC) have been widely used to apply high pressures to samples. We demonstrate the utility of the NV to directly image and detect sample properties with high spatial-resolution.-My Impact: Designed an automated spectral fitting algorithm.
