Communications and Technology Management Department - Develop the vision, strategy, conceptual and logical designs, roadmaps, and other architectural deliverables for City wide GIS - Define the principles that guide technology decisions for the enterprise GIS - Design the implementation of a technical architecture based on business requirements and IT strategies, as well as rectify gaps and pain points within the current state. - Work on high-level projects, ensuring processes align with the domain focused architectural strategy and business strategy - Guide project team members in the implementation of the architecture - Serve as the deepest technology expert in their respective domains and as such, are involved in or lead technology strategy, migration, integration and evolution of the technical infrastructure - Collaborate closely with other architects and engineers to ensure alignment of domain architectures and activities with the broader enterprise architecture and strategy - Lead and contributes to the domain technical and business discussions relative to future architecture direction. - Analyze the current technology environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement. - Lead the evaluation and selection of technology and products, as well as the design of standard configurations for given domain. - Lead and facilitates the domain’s architecture governance process based on Enterprise Architecture’s governance structure.

Communications and Technology Management Department- Implement and integrate highly complex business systems including the design and architecture of system interfaces, configuration management, documentation, administration, monitoring, troubleshooting and maintain detailed plans for systems disaster recovery and testing- Plan and forecast budget needs for new hardware and software- Make independent decisions with significant impact for procurement of technical solutions- Test, install and/or upgrade, and implement new software and/or hardware and releases - Develop and/or implement and ensure the compliance of IT policies, standards and procedures- Provide solution based cost analysis - Consult on projects or lead project management- Assist project teams in planning, designing, evaluating, procuring and delivering software- Communicate and make presentations to the City’s technical departmental representatives- Research and analyze the technology market and vendor products

Austin Resource Recovery Department- Researches, analyzes, architects, develops, implements and configures technological solutions- Administers, monitors, and maintains one or more IT systems- Investigates and analyzes complex business requirements- Provides impact analysis and recommends appropriate solutions- Identifies opportunities for asset reuse across multiple projects- Responds to issues from the user community- Prepares and maintains documentation related to the development and maintenance of systems- Performs bug tracking and quality assurance tasks- Develops and maintains disaster recovery plans- Develops and/or delivers training- Creates and prepares reports and analysis- Installs new software releases and/or upgrades- Establishes IT policies, procedures and security requirements

- Develop automation for database applications and maintain existing scripts.- Improve GIS infrastructure using Python and SQL to support enterprise projects.- Provide software support to user community.- Perform data processing tasks.- Develop map documents for use in Web mapping applications.- Perform statistical analysis on database contents for report generation.- Design and implement databases.- Provide and update documentation for GIS workflows and scripts. - Train existing employees on new technology.
