As the Regional Manager for the UK, my role is to provide strategic leadership across the MetraWeather EMEA business. I'm responsible for meeting revenue and cost targets (EBIT) for the region.I lead a UK-based field sales and account management team to retain existing key accounts while actively driving new business development. I work closely with the Customer & Commercial leadership team and the Products team to ensure strong alignment with operations, aiming to deliver profitable and sustainable growth across the region.I also manage the operations of the UK-based MetService/MetraWeather meteorological consultancy team, ensuring that our services meet the needs of our client base and support global commercial strategies. My focus is on maximizing revenue and profit for assigned sectors by identifying and developing opportunities for production efficiencies.The key responsibilities for the Regional Manager UK role include:* Lead and develop UK-based staff to ensure smooth operations and foster growth to meet commercial and meteorological needs.* Oversee daily operations, ensuring cost-effective service delivery while collaborating across regions to drive consultancy, sales, and product innovation.* Build strong client relationships, identify new business opportunities, and ensure alignment with forecasting teams to drive sales growth. Manage budgeting, forecasting, and market analysis.* Ensure safety and compliance with health and safety policies.* Foster a positive, innovative culture and collaborate closely with internal teams, especially in digital marketing.* Maintain strong internal and external relationships with teams, clients, and industry partners.

Expanding on my operational forecaster role I manage a set of accounts based in the retail, winter hazard, and marine sections of the UK business, acting to expand and enhance current relationships while preparing and presenting tender documents and product demonstrations to new clients.

Work as an operational forecaster providing forecast products for a range of retail, media, and energy customers. The role focuses on both short and long range forecast products as well as providing scope for further research projects to support in house forecast products and personal development. Using my previous marine forecast experience I have enabled the incorporation of MetraWeather marine consulting services into the EMEA region, working with colleagues in New Zealand, Australia, and SE Asia.

Work as a marine meteorologist forecasting for offshore installations and shipping routes. I produce forecasts for locations all around the world, as well as using forecasts to recommend the best routes for vessels to take. I have regular communication with ship Masters and offshore installation operators.

Intern in meteorology on the short term power trading desk. Worked with the two current meteorologists, shadowing their daily forecast activities, as well as undertaking two projects. The first was a forecast verification project. Using a forecast verification tool, I generated statistics such as bias, RMSE and quantile-quantile plots to evaluate the effectiveness of several forecast providers, the internal meteorologist forecasts and the GFS and ECMWF deterministic and ensemble models in relation to their performance in forecasting temperature and wind in the UK, France and other European countries. Whilst doing this project I improved on my presentation techniques, handled large datasets and learnt how to use Visual Basic. The second project was a teleconnection study into the influence of the Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO) on Northern Hemisphere and European weather. My results were presented to the two meteorologists, with recommendations as to the usefulness of observing the MJO as a predictor of European weather. Whilst at EDF Trading, I learnt about commodity trading, as well as the importance of meteorology to the commodity market. I also learnt how to interact with people who may not have a meteorological background and developed communication skills to allow me to effectively get across my ideas across to people.

Worked as part of a small team (8-12 people) serving match day customers at football and rugby games at the Madejski stadium in Reading. In the course of a match, the team would regularly serve upwards of 500 customers in a short time frames (1-2 hours before kick-off, 20-30 minutes at half time (for football games) and 30 minutes after the game (for rugby matches)). Worked quickly and efficiently under pressure and learnt skills such as food hygiene and cash handling. Received numerous "exceptional performer" reports from managers.
