I designed and implemented a player ranking system based on automated analysis of gameplay patterns. I also programmed large portions of the underlying framework of both the open-source and closed-source versions of the game, including a full rewrite of the 2D graphics and layout engine. I also acted as a maintainer of osu!'s open source efforts, which can be found here: https://github.com/ppy/osu, https://github.com/ppy/osu-framework, https://github.com/ppy/osu-performance

I researched how photorealistic images can be created efficiently by simulating light-matter interactions in a virtual 3D scene. I focused on solving this problem with the help of machine learning. My work led to multiple publications in well regarded venues, received a "Best Paper Award" at EGSR 2017, and was featured on the cover of Computer Graphics Forum in 2017 (volume 36).As part of this, I had the pleasure to work on Disney's Hyperion Renderer, where I integrated findings from two of my research papers.

I developed and sold anti-cheat software for private servers of the game "Fly for Fun". The software monitored network traffic, filtering malicious packets before they could harm the server, all while handling several thousand simultaneous client connections with negligible performance overhead.
