NHS Data:Working with Business Partners to setup KPI reporting for various NHS services that are being run by Virgin Care by using SQL Server 2016 to deliver the requirements.HR/Finance Data:Working with the "People Team" I have lead the development of a dimensional model for the company's HR data to service common business requests. The model is then hooked up to Tableau to allow users to self-serve.

Key Financial Services Projects:I am proud to have worked on some key projects at White Oak which wouldn’t be within the remit of your traditional MI Manager. I worked closely with the Chief Finance Officer on an application for a £51 Million Senior Debt Funding Line with the British Business Bank, unlocking asset-based funding for lots of SMEs in the UK. I had to provide ongoing data requirements for the application process as well as setup covenant reporting for monitoring the facility. Later I would be involved in a similar process with Citi Bank for a £100 Million facility. As the business grew, they made acquisitions and I was involved in the analysis of data prior to acquisition and also the integration of data platforms post-acquisition. In 2017 what was ‘LDF’ was sold to White Oak before rebranding to White Oak UK and I was heavily involved in the data requirements for the sale of the business.Tech Skills:I managed a team of BI Developers who were responsible for providing the business intelligence provision, including the end to end ETL processes, management of the data warehouse and liaising with third party data providers. We built 3 new servers and recreated our ETL processes using a “data-ops” approach. Our bread and butter was SQL Server along with SSIS, SSRS, SSAS and Power BI.

Portfolio Analysis:Throughout my time at White Oak UK I was involved in portfolio analysis and I used to sit on the portfolio review committee, where I would produce a PDF deck which was automated using SSRS to show arrears/bad debt trends over time, slicing and dicing the portfolio using various dimensions such as sector, region, credit quality etc. Stakeholder management was key to this involvement in analysis as I would often deal with the Board of Directors including the Managing Director. In addition, it was important that I thoroughly understood the numbers (not just the tech) and to that end I completed an 18-month Diploma in Asset Finance at the London Institute of Banking & Finance.

Above and Beyond Awards:I was nominated by one of my students for an Above and Beyond Award – Inspiring Lecturer, which I was awarded not long after I finished my lecturing – it really felt like a great achievement to have been a small part of my student’s learning journeys.Running the ‘IT components’ of Information & Communications in the Workplace, and Financial Understanding for Managers, responsibilities included creating course materials; delivering workshops and lectures; setting & marking assessments for the modules; managing the virtual learning environment (VLE). I also delivered lectures for Dissertation students carrying out Quantitative Analysis using Excel.

Duties included data analysis; budget reconciliation; database creation and management using MS Access; streamlining software licence recording; people management; performance measures and management using balanced scorecard.

20-week consultancy project during my MSc to improve the company’s existing provision in terms of their Customer Relationship Management (CRM) & Supply Chain Management (SCM) Systems.

Oracle to SQL Migration:Working in the MIS Department, I worked on a migration from an Oracle-based system called Unit-E to a SQL-based platform called EBS4 (by Tribal Group). This was a great ‘all-round’ project because I was involved in everything from planning, migrating the data, creating data entry forms, adding reference data, creating reports in SSRS and working with Dev, Test and Prod environments. The system contained learner registration information, exams data as well as timetable data, which we were responsible for producing at the start of the academic year. I also supervised a small data entry team during my time there and worked on providing Independent Learner Record (ILR) Data Returns as per the College’s obligations.
