Thomas Ngobeni started his career as a trainee geologist in 1993 employed by GoldFields Limited. Between the period of 1993 and 1998, he managed to complete his BSc (Hons) degree from Wits University and worked in several Goldfields mines during vocational period, mainly in platinum (at Northam Mine) and gold (at Kloof and Deelkraal Mines).Thomas was appointed as a Geologist in 1998 at Beatrix Mines within the Welkom goldfields.He joined Harmony Gold Mine at the Masimong 5 shaft in 2000 and was appointed Senior geologist in November 2001.In 2005, Thomas joined BHP Billiton Energy Coal South Africa (BECSA) as a Mine geologist and was appointed Chief Geologist in 2006 at Douglas Colliery. In April 2007, he was seconded to Klipspruit Colliery as Chief geologist.In January 2009, Thomas founded Siyaphambili1 where he is currently working as a Consulting Geologist
