My responsibilities within the project were focused on spectroscopy of the biochemical samples and analysis. The project was coordinated with biochemists from another lab to obtain spectroscopic support for an assigned structural model. A collaborating DFT theorist and I correlated these combined results to a structural model of the active state. Thereby the suited spectroscopy can answer structural effects on the quantum chemical level, as hydrogen bonds in a electron proton coupled reaction, of a selected part of a macromolecular complex.Further responsibilities included the position of an safety officer of our research group and a shared responsibility for a prototypic EPR spectrometer.Thesis title: Hydrogen bonds and electrostatic environment of radical intermediates in ribonucleotide reductase Ia.
