My main role is clinical variant interpretation for somatic panels in solid and hematologic malignancies. This includes run metric review, alignment review of each variant, tier assignment, and the recommendation of appropriate treatments and trials. This is followed by the generation of CLIA compliant patients reports for director review. I also continuously review databases and software required to complete or improve these functions. I maintain a strong knowledge of current scientific literature to assure panel coverage is appropriate in regard to advancements in treatment strategies. In addition to these clinical responsibilities, I am also involved in the education of residents and fellows (LGG/MGP) in next generation sequencing and variant interpretation.

In charge of a wonderful and dedicated team of graduate students and technicians investigating the genomic alterations responsible for Large Granular Lymphocyte leukemia. We utilize next generation sequencing in conjunction with a large patient registry maintained by Dr. Thomas Loughran MD in order to determine genomic changes that may cause disease, alter disease symptoms or predict therapeutic responses. Fully versed in all aspects of Illumina and Ion Torrent NGS as well as having multiple years of experinece developing assays for droplet digital PCR systems from Bio-Rad.
