In this position I am researching cutting-edge technologies for machine learning and artificial intelligence using insights from neuroscience to increase their efficiency. The research encompasses novel network architecture, learning algorithms and large-scale applications.

As a predoctoral researcher at IBM Research Center Zurich I work at the interface between theory and hardware implementation for neural networks. In particular, the question how neuromorphic hardware can be utilized to circumvent the increasing demand for high performance computing resources when training neural networks is addressed.
