The 19th Royal Holloway Delegation represented the Republic of Korea during the 2024 National Model United Nations New York Conference (Session 2) in early April; I served as a duo delegate in the Economic and Social Commission on Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) with my partner, Mariam Hamam, where we discussed two agenda topics on “Promoting a Healthy, Protected and Productive Workforce in Asia and the Pacific" and “Addressing the Expanded Riskscape in Asia and the Pacific."In preparation for the conference, I attended weekly, three-hour training sessions led and facilitated by our head delegates, Jagdeep Bajaj and Harry Stone. These sessions were intense, but they prepared us well for the conference. I participated in four simulations, representing four different member states (often as duo delegates) and debating topics such as unilateral coercive measures on human rights, sexual violence in conflict and organised cybercrime.

As part of the 2023/24 Royal Holloway Delegation, I represented the Republic of France in the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS) at the 25th London International Model United Nations University Conference in late February 2024. Throughout the conference, our committee discussed the topic of "Reassessing Space Traffic Management: Orbit Congestion and Rendez-Vous and Proximity Operations", where we successfully managed to create working papers to create a detailed and precise solution to tackling orbital congestion and space debris; we later merged the papers into one draft resolution, which we passed unanimously after rigorous discussions, as well as active involvement in the amendment process. In the months leading up to the conference, I attended weekly, three-hour training sessions led by head delegates Henry Wilkinson and Tannin Jeffrey, participating in three simulations, representing three different member states and debating varying topics such as national sovereignty, maritime security and public health. These sessions taught me more about current international affairs and have improved my public speaking skills. This opportunity has been incredibly useful in shaping me to be a more confident, diplomatic and critical-thinking person.
