- Invented a novel plasma coupler for heating fusion plasmas in controlled fusion experiments. The basic coupler concept is currently being applied on a grand scale on the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER). - Discovered ion heating in a controlled fusion plasma at high harmonics of the ion-cyclotron frequency. - Devised a novel waveguide coupler for plasma heating that has been adopted in several fusion reactor designs.
