Partner with owners/clients to win, manage, and close-out construction engineering and inspection, as well as transportation design through engineering service agreements. Manage scope, schedule and cost changes during execution phase. Resolve disputes and make recommendation on owners' behalf regarding issues. Provide valuable roadway, bridge, drainage, construction, and program management input through the development of transportation projects. Forecast and predict risks that may impact aspects of design/construction of transportation projects. Manage team and other resources to ensure all our commitments are met or exceeded.

District 2 Project Delivery Engineer- Work closely with District Engineer to deliver the District 2 Highway Program. Coordinate/plan with internal and external resources/officials to optimize the NDOT Construction Program and build projects of a higher benefit at the right time. Represent the District at numerous events and public meetings and interface with media as needed. Identify and pursue new partnerships, project delivery menthods and encourage stakeholder engagement and participation. Manage project scope, schedule and cost; track these impacts due to change to ensure budget compliance. Maintain knowledge of environmental requirements includes Wetland permits and NEPA, and historic components. Maintain knowledge of Right-Of-Way procurement process and requirements. Assist design team in value add and design element guidance. Ensure constructibility and quality of project documents. Ensure federal funding is secured and administered as required in pre and post letting activity including PoDI spot checks and field inspections. Educate and maintain close relationships with construction team to ensure compliance to project requirements.

District 5 Construction Engineer- Lead Project Management team and 2 specialized contract administration staff. Administered the District Highway Construction Program ($40-60 Million). Serve as a technical leader in developing best engineering practices for the NDOT Project Manager manual. Provide technical advice and guidance in the construction and project management discipline. Conduct project reviews and participate in District Construction Engineer meetings pertaining to highway construction, and make recommendations or proposed solutions to identified problems/issues. Provided guidance in contract administration to team and represent District 5 at internal and external meetings of all types. Manage Construction and Maintenance Operations in the absence of District Engineer.

Project Delivery Engineer (Statewide)-Track and Manage multiple Highway Programs from various Federal and State funding sources. Provide input, record decisions and make recommendations for Program level meetings such as Cash Flow, District Annual Program, Project Facilitation, and Build Nebraska Act meetings. Manage a team of Project Scheduling/Program Managers. Apply PMI concepts and knowledge to improve and develop processes for better project delivery. Interface with FHWA resources to provide complex data and information, develop an effective partnership in delivering Federal programs. Partner with Federal Highway Administration Field engineers as well as State DOT officials to improve environmental stewardship, identify methods to streamline project delivery schedule.

Manage Highway Construction Projects of a Complex Nature. Use PE license and knowledge to develop, seal and sign traffic control plans. Manage construction technicians and survey crew to provide staking, inspection and administer contracts. Interface with design personnel, contractors, other entities, transportation officials and the public. Make presentations and attend industry networking and informational events. Perform project inspections with Federal Highway Administration personnel on inspections and periodic field visits to ensure proper stewardship of federal transportation funds.

Engineer In-Training (EIT) district (field) duties such as Construction Inspection, Survey Party Chief-Preliminary and Construction Surveying and Staking and calculations, Field Design and correction, making measurement and payment utilizing AASHOTWARE Site Manager, attending/leading contractor coordination and partnering meetings. Make presentations for various conferences and attend public meetings. Coordination with District management and design staff.

Bridge Division- Quantity and Bid-Item development, extensive production of engineering drawings and documents. Some entry level design work such as Shim Calculations and “Bill of Bars” production. Full proficiency gained in MicroStation and Geopak design software through training and application.

Kellogg company has a college student program that allows one to work Full-Time during Summers and part-time during the traditional school year. I ran packaging equipment and provided basic manual labor as part of the Kellogg’s hourly workforce.
