This facility caters for an array of customers who are interested in maintaining a level of fitness. This centre has three pools a fitness suite and crèche facilities. It was my responsibility to monitor and forecast staffing throughout the centre. Dealing with all human resource requirements I was responsible for the recruitment and selection process, training and appraising so that the councils ‘Corporate Plan’ was integrated into staff development. Successfully coordinated the programming of the facility, which incorporated leisure swimming, lengths swimming, club hire, championship hire, regional competitions, holiday programmes and swimming lessons. Managed the internal and external marketing associated with the facility, discussing strategies and identifying appropriate media sources within budgetary parameters. Dealt well with customer feedback and chaired customer forum meetings as a process of improving customer services within the facility. Generated monthly reports on the performance of usage and income on the facility, concluding on my responsibilities and informing colleagues of changes and future developments. The greatest achievement during my time at this facility was the well-executed £4million refurbishment, which took 2 years to complete. Regularly meeting with the site-foreman and subcontractors so that the safety of customers and the welfare of staff was considered whilst trying to maintain a service for those customers we were financially committed too.
India, Thailand, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Northern America
After my secondment at Whitton Sports Centre had concluded I decided to explore various ideas for both employment and study, I decided that my current situation allowed me the opportunity to fulfil a life-long desire to experience and enjoy other cultures and communities. Being a confident and independent individual, the idea of travelling alone while continually meeting new people excited me. My journey lasted for eleven months commencing in India, taking me through the Far East to Australia where I worked for five months in a Lebanese restaurant. I then moved on to New Zealand, Tonga, Samoa and concluded my travels experiencing the delights of the West-coast of America. During this I honed many skills, including decision-making, communication, organisation, problem solving and planning. While I thoroughly enjoyed travelling, I feel it also served to make me a more rounded individual, giving me a wider perspective on life and a greater appreciation of my own abilities.
This facility is a dry side Sports Centre that caters for customers who intend on playing racket sports and taking part in fitness classes.
