I am a current PhD student at the University of Sydney studying the integration of distributed energy resources (DERs) into electricity networks. My specific focuses are in the areas of power hardware-in-the-loop (PHIL) testing and DER dispatch optimisation.I am also an analyst at Vellocet Clean Energy that specialises in the design of energy management systems (EMS) for microgrid applications. My primary responsibility is designing the software necessary to optimise microgrid resources by managing and analysing weather, energy pricing, and customer load data. The first version of the EMS (named "Sibyl") was successfully deployed in 2021 with many more projects now in the company's pipeline.I have 4 years of prior experience designing the physical components of high voltage substations in the USA. During this time, I learnt how to deliver a successful project that meets client expectations. My design responsibilities specifically included everything from foundations and grounding to above grade bus work and equipment. I was able to deliver successful work packages for every project that I was involved. This included over eight large design projects ranging from control house designs to large brownfield substation rehab projects. Based on my performance and knowledge of the design process, I was appointed to perform Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QAQC) on calculations and designs completed by other engineers, for major US utility companies. I very much look forward to applying the skills I have gained to the many challenges confronting modern electricity networks. I enjoy learning and being challenged, and am always seeking opportunities that will help me grow in this industry.
