Profile bio

About Thomas Philipona

I have always been driven to design. I spent my childhood building with Legos. I was absorbed by the creative process, inspired to express myself through limitless possibilities. As I grew up, I became increasingly interested in the objects which surround us, fascinated by their design, complexity and manufacturing. Like many, I also developed a love of cars; not only for their elegant or thrilling shapes but also for the hidden technologies which animate them. I have nurtured my passion and curiosity throughout my education studying material science and mechanical engineering. My two-year technological degree in material science developed my understanding of material properties, structures, how they are obtained, their applications and more. I also acquired practical skills such as material elaboration, characterization, and an in-depth insight into manufacturing. I then continued my studies at a mechanical engineering school in order to further develop my expertise in product and industrial design, giving me a strong technical background in product development and project management. The various projects I had the opportunity to be involved in during the course of my studies allowed me to apply the skills I had learned, as well as helped me become increasingly autonomous, rigorous and precise.I demonstrated my ability to work as part of a greater team. During my internship at Sound & Bright in Los Angeles, my work contributed directly to the development of new products now on the market. I was tasked with the design of a new range of laser-based ultrasound systems. Throughout the internship, I applied my know-how to the mechanical design, supplier and manufacturer management, assembly of systems and quality verification. Now, my goals are to share my passion and knowledge, solve problems, develop products and build the future.(Currently employed on a H1B visa)

Listed skills include Industrial Design, Catia, Plastics, Technical Design, and 22 others.
