About Thomas Pitcher
As an instructor, my primary goal is to get my students to realize they are the ones directing their education and the ones who have the internal capacities to transcend their current abilities as well as my ability to teach them.In English instruction, I let students explore their own needs and interests and collaborate with them to create an instructional path that suits those needs and interests. I also work to create problems that my students can solve by discovering what they need to know about the content I am teaching rather than have me deliver it to them.In fitness instruction, my approach to yoga and tai chi is similar. A student's body is their greatest teacher, and I help them pay attention to how the body communicates what movements are easy and graceful, and which are counterproductive. I also bring knowledge of human anatomy to questions of alignment and movement, helping a student harmonize practice with their individual bodies.
