About Thomas Poling
My name is Thomas Poling and I live in Trophy Club, Texas. Before moving to Texas I was a teacher and coach in an inner city school south of Boston. Every summer I would work basketball camps put on by some of the top college coaches and pros. I was lucky enough to work at the only camp Larry Bird ever put on in the Boston area. As a high school coach I was blessed to be part of back to back State Championships teams which included games at the old Boston Garden. In 1995 we moved to Dallas , Texas and our family grew to 3 kids 2 girls and one boy. All of our kids are active in athletics. I have been a coach on several teams for all the kids. I coached football, basketball, baseball soccer and softball for my kid's teams. As a former high school coach I try to work on teaching fundamentals and life lessons. I still have a passion for coaching but do not want to miss any of my kids games because I have to coach a different team. My passion is helping kids who may not be as fortunate and come from tough situations to learn how to be successful in life through sports!In 2007 I began working part time out of my home. My main reason for working at home is I was still able to perform my stay at home dad duties while working out of my home office.. I worked selling over the phone , sending emails and face to face and helped grow two health and fitness expos. I have great people skills and very determined to succeed in whatever I do.In 2012 I spearheaded an effort to get the outdoor basketball courts here in Trophy Club upgraded and also headed up the first annual Live Like Josh 3 on 3 basketball tournament. This included many trips to the Trophy Club council meetings to get them to approve the upgrade on the courts. The tournament has grown every year, 2017 we had 64 teams participate. I will always bring with my coaching philosophy in whatever field I return to. I live by the motto "DON'T EVER GIVE UP" !

Next year will be the 8th annual Live Like Josh Memorial Basketball Tournament. Josh was a former Byron Nelson High School basketball player who was tragically killed in an automobile accident in 2012. In 2013 while working to refurbish the outdoor basketball courts in Trophy Club I came up with the idea of the 3 on 3 basketball tournament to keep Josh's.
