About Thomas Pollock
I am a junior studying health science within the Sargent College at Boston University (Class of 2026). Throughout my various life experiences, a desire to work with people and explore the intricacies of life has pervaded. As a result of this, I’ve gravitated towards hopefully attending medical or dental school and becoming a doctor in either of those fields. Additionally, I looking to pursue an MD/MBA or DMD/MBA program, so I am also open to the emerging field of biotechnology, financial-related or consulting over healthcare assets, hospital management, pharmaceuticals, sporting goods design companies, or healthcare service companies. I like to define myself by my strong set of principles, commitment to giving back to the community, strength in my interpersonal skills, and drive to advance my academic/work career.

Production Team Member
CurrentThis job occurs every summer over the duration of the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. (Late August). Broadcasted nationally by ESPN, I am brought on this event’s production team as a runner and the unique role of a “parent spotter.” As a runner, I perform miscellaneous tasks that frequently vary: driving a shuttle car, updating daily schedules, running supplies to the broadcast booth, or even driving to the store on a whim to get Vegemite for a broadcast segment. This hones in on quick-footed, collaborated problem solving. Time management and punctuality is paramount to aiding in keeping the machine that is a live broadcast running smoothly. As the “parent spotter,” I meet with the parents of both teams, converse with them, and quickly memorize where they are sitting and what they look like. The point of this is to communicate to the producers, camera crew, and broadcasting team information about the parent/guardian/relative present. When their child is up to bat, I point out the respective family/friend for the camera and production team to cut to them. I often find myself in the epicenter of any potential storylines of the families, as I end up fostering various relationships with many team’s family members I see over the week long tournament. Many of these “hits” are often later mentioned on the broadcast or live interview with the spectator. Additionally, I work the international tournament for most of the week, which enables me to experience numerous different cultures and their different chants, superstitions, and experiences. Tied with the challenge of an occasional language barrier, it truly is a novel, adrenaline inducing experience that has fostered many new skills. Baseball is truly a beautiful, global sport.
Competitive Swimming Coach
CurrentAfter swimming competitively on this very team for 12 years, I decided to return as a coach over my gap semester leading up to Boston University. I continue to work as a coach over my winter breaks and summers. (If I am home).
Assistant Manager
Summer job where I would work with a team to set up and take down event style tents, tables, and chairs. This required meticulous planning to account for all of the different (correct) parts, especially when having to do multiple events in one day. The tents could got up to the size of 40x80 feet. I have worked here for the past 4 summers, and this year I recently moved into an assistant management position due to my time with the company and being the second longest tenured employee. I would frequently educate newer employees on how to do certain aspects of the job, along with taking a crew of my own on certain days. I communicate with a lot of different people in numerous places throughout a day on the job.
