R&D PVC, Development of New Flame Retardants.

Help in day to day operations in many ways throughout the Embassy. I worked with HR. Department if needed processing new arrivals. With my Secret Security Clearance I am allowed to escort guests or outside workers through the building to make sure they do not go in to sensitive areas and if they have to they do not have access to any restricted information. I also helped in the Consular section with people trying do obtain visas by assisting them fill out the forms correctly and collecting Biometric information on them. It had been a fascinating change for me to do more clerical type duties as opposed to the scientific jobs I have had in the past. I did use my skills gained in working at foreign based companies to deal with the different cultures and languages . Diplomacy and good priority management skills are required. And I think doing clerical work will help me even more when I already considered myself a well organized person.

Worked in Microbiology and Pathology lab

Worked in R&D developing and testing elastomeric sealers and high strength adhesives for applications with several different substrates. Also worked developing and testing of baffle materials and reinforcer materials. Position required that I had knowledge to use several different types of material mixers including twin screw extruder to create my own pellets that I would later use in an injection molder to create testing panels.

Worked in R&D center doing color matching and final coatings application using hand spraying, a 12 Head Carousel Spray Finishers and a Roll Coater.Prepared and tested materials for physical testing. Being a R&D facility I gained a great amount of knowledge in the processing of leather. Because the number of employees was small flexibility and knowledge of all equipment was necessary. So I worked in all aspects from receiving the untreated hides received from The suppliers to the completely finished product that was ready to be sent to automotive manufacturers, and had worked every step in between.

Developed various automotive colors and successfully help launch the product to the customer. Assisted in the launch of new technologies. Worked in coatings applications department applying both OEM and refinish 1K and 2K materials in various manners including hand application, e-stat automated booths and various robotic systems including Fanuc and Behr. This included liquid and powder materials using both spray guns and electrostatic bells over metal and plastic substrates. I Prepared samples for physical testing, color, appearance and for trend shows. Physically tested materials for durability, adhesion, fade resistance, chemical resistance and made sure materials would interact with other supplier’s materials, optimizing formulations with engineers when needed. Experience includes paint formulation, color development, customer support and technical service. Developed plant spray parameters for future colors and assisted Tech. Service Dept. solve application issues involved with equipment by operating equipment on a full size paint line which could simulate any plant we serviced. This included operation of the conveyor line, bake ovens and HVAC systems in addition to all robotics and spray equipment both atomizing bells and spray guns. Assisted in trouble-shooting and providing technical support from previous knowledge of physical chemistry to increase performance while implementing cost savings through more effective raw materials. Performed and developed different test methods to ascertain the solution to various industry problems. Interacted closely with our customers by traveling to customer sites and by working with engineers would troubleshoot issues online with appearance, coatings performance or any other issues pertaining to our material.
