Flight Test Engine Management Engineer working on-site with Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation supporting the Flight Test and certification of the new Gulfstream G700 & G800 Business Jets.Key responsibilities include representing Rolls-Royce in flight briefs, flight operations reporting, configuration management, maintenance scheduling and forecasting, parts ordering and availability and on-site resolution of technical arisings. Key responsibilities include project planning and component strategy, requirements capture, concept generation and downselection, detailed design, validation and verification. The Power Gearbox is a key enabling technology for the UltraFan™ geared turbofan programme.

Engineering Graduate on the Global Graduate Scheme. Fifth placement working in Systems Design & Integration on the UltraFan™ future engine architecture. Key tasks include preliminary lifing assessment of critical parts, risk management and patent/IP generation. Fourth placement in Compressor Components Supply Chain Unit working on Right First Time reporting, First Article Inspection compliance and Manufacturing Operations Management. Mid placement shadowing of two Customer Business Managers to gain experience of the customer-facing side of the business. Third placement on the graduate 'Design & Make' programme. Working as Design Lead with a team of engineering graduates to design a rig to demonstrate containment in a core blade off event. Presentation of designs and project plan gained exposure to a number of senior engineers. Second placement in the Trent XWB Structures and Transmissions Development supporting and facilitating development testing for certification evidence. Further use of whole engine architecture knowledge to assist with root cause failure investigations.First placement in the Trent XWB Flight Test Team: providing support for flight test operations with flight clearance documentation and life monitoring of critical engine components.

One of three team leaders making up the 'Warwick Racing 3' team. Responsible for an 8-person team tasked to design, validate, manufacture and test the wheels, uprights, hubs, brakes, suspension, steering and pedals - ensuring on time, functional and high-quality delivery before the competition at Silverstone Circuit in July. Oversaw the completion of the chassis Dynamics components, on time and in cost.; also achieving a first class academic mark for both the dissertation report and supplementary presentation.

Working as part of the Trent 1000 Whole Engine Design Team gave me an unrivalled experience of a whole spectrum of areas within the company, including Design, Manufacture, Test, Quality, Supply-Chain, Certification and Project Management (both internal and customer-facing). I was heavily involved with the testing of production engines, receiving the Power Systems Design Recognising Success Award (a global functional award) for my work in tracking engine changes and refining the test schedule; updating and reducing the risk of mis-testing, saving over an hour of running per engine test.I was also involved in a number of Master Black Belt (Lean Six Sigma) projects, working alongside a number of Black Belt and Master Blackbelt Quality Leaders. One involved assessing the cleanliness of parts recieved from suppliers and the storage and washing techniques used within the company while the other was a company-critical quality issue involving a number of functions throughout the company.
