In my role as a clinical professor and associate dean for faculty practice, partnerships and professional development, I serve two roles. As a clinical professor, my specialty area is informatics where I teach in the UM School of Nursings graduate programs in nursing informatics. I specialize in computational modeling and simulation of healthcare processes and teach interprofessional healthcare informatics and systems design and analysis. I am also the project manager for the University of Minnesotas partnership with the OpumLabs Natitional Research Collaborative on big data science and am the past co-chair for the expert panel on informatics and technology in the American Academy of Nursing. Finally, I am the primary investigator for a three year grant in partnerships with the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing entitled the National Nursing Informatics Deep Dive Program whose aim is to provide nursing school faculty with resources to teach informatics to nursing students.In my role as associate dean, I am responsible for oversight of the University of Minnesota School of Nursings faculty practice plan where UM faculty practice in community healthcare organizations. Recently the School opened two nurse managed clinics: a primary care clinic in downtown Minneapolis and a memory care clinic in partnership with Fairview Medical Group. As associate dean I am also responsible for business development and have facilitated numerous partnerships and privately funded grants with local and national organizations. I am also responsible for the Schools professional development activities and have facilitated the development of numerous commercial courses on a wide variety of nursing topics developed by UM faculty.

The Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer provides executive oversight for day to day operations, strategic planning and clinical quality of patient care services at Mercy Iowa City, IA.
