I have been postdoc and coupled climate modeller between 2015-2021 at the Alfred Wegener Institute Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research. I am currently ocean modeller at the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) in the nextGEMS project, working on the next generation of storm-resolving Earth System Models that will be first prototypes for Europe's envisioned "Digital Twins" of our Earth in support of the Green Transition. My goal is to add missing processes like ocean eddies and sea ice leads to our simulations in order to improve their predictions.In 2019, I joined the MOSAiC expedition to the Arctic Ocean. I hold a diploma in Industrial Math (Technomathematik) with a thesis about iceberg drift and decay, followed by a PhD degree in physics at the University of Bremen.
