Supporting the building and running of a number of products across Azure, Kubernetes, AKS and ADO

I am currently working as a DevOps Engineer, working with both an on-prem cloud solutiom, and public cloud providers (AWS, GCP and Azure), to host a number of applications.

My main responsibilities included working on the tills, providing information to customers as a host, and working on a service desk, opening savings account and ISAs for members of the building society.

During the summer of 2017 I completed an internship working for Dr Carl Diver, alongside one of his PhD students on a research and design project, looking at a new manufacturing technique, JET ECM, and how to integrate this with technology currently being developed by Siemens, in order to contribute to Industry 4.0, the fourth industrial revolution. One portion was spent working on a CAD package to design new parts for the machine, running a variety of CFD simulations to explore the most efficient nozzles to be used for the JET ECM machine and conducting research into experiments to assess how the machine was performing. The second portion of my time was spent on the Industry 4.0 project. This involved working closely with Siemens, using their technology to try and create a fully automated process of transferring data straight from the JET ECM machine, onto Siemens’ cloud, MindSphere. In this role I am in charge of crowd safety and management, as well as identifying and stopping potential hazards. I work primarily with one other person, or on my own. This role involves lots of interactions with customers and the public, and has helped to enhance my ability to think on my feet when handling difficult situations.

During the summer of 2015 I worked as a bar tender and waiter at events throughout Sheffield and South Yorkshire. My responsibilities included handling cash, serving customers, working on tills, taking orders, restocking, being part of a team and having to show initiative when working on my own. During my gap year I lived and worked in the Swiss alps working for a British company, looking after people on their holidays. My responsibilities included looking after a chalet of six guests, cooking and serving breakfast, afternoon tea, a four course evening meal, and cleaning the chalet six days a week. It improved my ability to work on my own, meet regular deadlines and to get along with and interact well with customers.
