I created Stories About Indie Devs (storiesaboutindiedevs.com) to tell the stories of independent video game developers that no one else is telling. While other outlets focus on reviews, guides, top-10 lists, etc., Stories About Indie Devs features solely stories about indie developers, highlighting the ups and downs of making video games. I reach out to, interview, and write stories about indie game developers that you can’t find anywhere else.

I created and briefly ran a channel on YouTube called Amateur Hour Gaming. The focus of the channel was to cut through the BS, fluff, and drama of other video game outlets to highlight only good video games and explain what makes games good. I played games on the channel for exactly one hour while highlighting exactly what it was about each game that made them stand out.

As a contributor for Twinkietown.com, one the most read blogs about the Minnesota Twins of the MLB, I wrote several analytical and satirical pieces about my treasured, if frustrating, baseball team. The focus of my analytical pieces was to avoid opinions and hot takes by providing only cold, hard statistical facts to educate readers and help them avoid “bad takes” they may read elsewhere. My satirical pieces featured written caricatures of the players, influenced by what little snippets of personality could be gleamed from watching games or post-game interviews.

As a writer for the Daily Iowan, one of the most read student-run newspapers in the country, I covered intramural and club sports, and the golf, track and field, and baseball teams of the University of Iowa. My focus was mainly game recaps, but I also wrote several pieces highlighting lesser thought about aspects of each sport and the athletes that compete in them.

For a couple of summers, I wrote stories for the Northwest Iowa Review, one of the most read newspapers in western Iowa. Most of my writing duties centered around calling and getting quotes from baseball and softball coaches after games, but I was also given a handful of traditional pieces to write from time to time.

I hosted my own weekly baseball talk show, "Touch 'em All" on the station's internet radio station and was a co-host on the weekly baseball talk show "You can Put it on the Board" on the air.

I was generally an on air DJ, but I also gathered and read news over the air and covered sporting events in station and on site.
