Stamping / Tooling Technician at Possehl Connector Services (Rock Hill, SC - USA)After a diploma (similar to Associate Degree) in France, mainly on computing and electronics, I discovered the Tool and Die Maker's job (end of 2015) at Possehl Electronics France (Roche-la-Molière, Loire).The company was specialized in stamping (with presses) parts for the electronic industry (usually for the automotive industry). There, I learned everything about the work process of a progressive tool.It allowed me to work with machine-tools (mainly surface and profile grinders (Jung and PeTeWe), but also lathe, milling machine, ...), and all of this with an extreme precision, because of some really small tolerances (often around 5 micrometers, and even a bit less for one of our production).The company closed near mid-2021, and the whole production went to the headquarters of Possehl Electronics group, in Germany.At this time, I got the opportunity to come to work in the USA, where the main activity was the coating (of the stamped parts, or directly on the raw material).The objective was to open a new stamping activity.In order to be able to do all of it by myself, I made a 2,5 months training in Germany, where I learned the differents parts of stamping, QC, and also the concept of the die going to the USA, which was new for me.By waiting for my work visa, I worked as a Toolmaker in Germany (unluckily, I don't speak German).I stayed for a little bit more than a year (February 2022 / March 2023), and thanks to my contract, I was able to move between USA and Germany several time during the year to start the project and the production (and I am the only one working on it, so we did not really have the choice anyway).Finally, I am now a "Stamping and Tooling Technician", and I am working on the whole toolshop part (maintenance, repair, grinding, devlopment, ...), stamping line (Bruderer press, dereeler, camera, ...), and the QC for the stamped product (visual inspections and measurements), as well as the spare parts management for these.
