Rivers of Hope came about one day while looking at our family and what we want to do and where we want to be. The MDA is a big part of our lives due to Jackie's and Kourtney's Myotonic Muscular Dystorphy and we wanted to try and do more than we already do. Through talking with friends and hitting the links quite frequently, we decided that a Golf Tournament would be a great way to try and raise some more money and awareness about MD and the MDA. What we hope the Rivers of Hope can become is a life long partner with the MDA and many other businesses, organizations and community associations. Overall the primary goal is to give back as much as we can until one day a cure may be found.About MMD: MMD causes muscle weakness of varying degrees in the face, neck, lower arms and legs, as well as an inability to relax the grip after, for example, shaking hands. Other symptoms can involve difficulties with the gastrointestinal system, vision, heart or respiration. Reduced fertility and learning disabilities also occur in some cases. About The Muscular Dystrophy Association: MDA is a nonprofit health agency dedicated to curing muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases by funding worldwide research. Local MDA offices serve Maryland, Delaware, and the District of Columbia. Adults and children affected by any of the more than 40 neuromuscular diseases, and their families, benefit from MDA’s services, research and education programs. 76% of every dollar MDA spends goes directly to research, healthcare services & education. The best part is ALL money raised stays LOCAL and supports families affected by this horrible disease.
