Involved in collaborative working on two European research programmes focussed on the development of Clean Rotorcraft Technologies and providing Common Cockpit display and avionic systems for fixed wing and helicopter platforms.Acted as lead co-ordinator for several work packages which entailed working with a variety of Partners (including international airframe manufacturers, system manufacturers, universities and SME’s).Acted as an airframe subject matter expert on a number of Call for Proposal programmes focussed on the development of future power supplies, energy management, energy storage and distribution and novel electrical machines for use on rotorcraft platforms.Planned and worked with others to integrate a full test programme for a novel electrical drive for a rotorcraft platform. This included specifying tests, designing and implementing an automated test system based on the LabVIEW environment.Represented the company at number of international forums disseminating achievements and reporting progress with European Partners. Provided technical input regarding cockpit vision and avionic systems into various research papers for approval by the European Commission.Undertook various technology appraisals for use in future cockpits: started by preparation of the SoW following through to the testing and evaluation of the technology in the lab environment and culminating in the reporting of any findings.

Applied sound design techniques to reduce the generation and impact of EMI within a range of aircraft systems on different aircraft programmes.Gained knowledge and competence in the application of the EMC methods and standards used to qualify military systems (e.g MIL-STD-461 and Def Stan 59-41). Additionally has a good appreciation of similar commercial methods and standards (principally the CE mark).Gained competence in both producing and reviewing EMC qualification documentation in support of large product programmes for both internal and export markets.Undertook several product qualification tests both on and off site.Gained experience in approving several aircraft EED (Eletro Explosive Device) systems for use using both analytical and practical recognised methods relating to HERO (Hazards of Electromagnetic Radiation to Ordnance).
