Blackboard acquired Wimba in July 2010Translated the functionality of a desktop application for creating movies and audio files from proprietary session recordings to a cloud-based online service. Optimized the service to meet efficiency, scalability and cost goals for Blackboard Collaborate while containing scope to deliver within the timeframe provided to customers . Work Included:• Creating a new architectural decomposition of the code, in which the existing web administration/user interface application could readily interact with the new Publishing service.• Clustering the processing resources to provide resilience and scalability for expansion.• Research and implementation of new technology (Google's Guice framework and Hazelcast object caching) within the new system to fulfill resilience and scalability requirements.• Creating the service interfaces (REST requests) that couple the new publishing system with the web administration system.• Implementing a Repository Plugin framework, and specific plugin instances, to permit a variety of different Content Repositories and playing methodologies to work with the Publishing system and the web administration system.• Worked in a SCRUM based agile environment, acting as scrum master when needed.

Technical lead for development of integrations between Wimba’s products (Wimba Classroom and Wimba Voice) and a variety of commercial and opensource Learning Management Systems (LMS) including Blackboard, Moodle, Angel and Webct. Work entailed:• Enhancement and maintenance of Blackboard and Webct integrations.• Built several new integrations from scratch, including Moodle and Angel.• Worked with different stack of technologies (Java for Blackboard and Webct, Dotnet for Angel, Php for Moodle)• Designed, implemented and optimized APIs in Wimba’s products.• Worked closely with product management on functional requirements, designs, estimates and status.• Served as the Level 3 resource for support teams to help them troubleshoot and provide quick feedback and resolution to clients.• Unified the building, release process and continuous integration using Maven 2 and Teamcity• Worked with Quality Assurance on test cases.• Trained Client Service and Support on new features.• Acted as a mentor for other members of the team and internal advocate for standards based development.
