About Thomas Ross
I am an adjunct professor at the University of Ulm and a visiting researcher at the University of Konstanz. I have been a researcher in forensic psychiatry and psychotherapy for over 20 years. My main area of research is the study of the practical life skills of mentally ill offenders and criminals. Other research interests include (psychotherapeutic) treatment methods for offenders, personality disorders and psychological attribution research, forensic psychotherapy process research, and epidemiological developments in the forensic psychiatric system.Writing: In my novels I explore the limits of people in extreme psychological situations. For years I have been asking myself: How far can the individual go? How far is society willing to go? And what drives them? My first novel in particular (German: Der Schlitten) has a clear scientific reference.

CurrentI work as a senior researcher in the field of forensic psychiatry and psychotherapy. My main task is to set up, supervise and maintain a statewide database of forensic psychiatric patients. The database is used by policy makers as a documentation and research tool for the forensic psychiatric system in Baden-Württemberg. I currently work at the Reichenau Centre for Forensic Psychiatry. My academic affiliations are with the Universities of Ulm and Konstanz. I also write prose. Three books have been published (in German): Der Schlitten, Gelbfieber, Pasvikelva.
