Crisis Officer: Operations Shader And Gritrock
Member of the MOD Operations Directorate Crisis Team responsible for Data Protection Requests regarding:• Operation Shader: the code name given to the British participation in the ongoing military intervention against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), and• Operation Gritrock: the code name given to the British participation in the fight against the Ebola virus epidemic in West Africa.• Created detailed research and developed inputs for MOD involvement in Sierra Leone to contain and beat the Ebola epidemic, and in Syria and Iraq to counter ISIL, working directly with the Operation Shader and Gritlock policy teams.• Analyzed and responded to a highly complex and sensitive caseload of Freedom of Information Act requests to demanding statutory deadlines with typically 50 cases open at any one time. Liaised with key internal and external stakeholders to make them aware of particularly sensitive requests and, where appropriate, obtain their views on the potential impact of the disclosure of associated information. Drove liaison with internal MOD secretariat branches and wider government departments to identify required information to construct accurate and timely responses. Ensured compliance with both internal processes and FOIA requirements.• Prepared responses to Additional Information Access Requests emanating from: Ministerial Correspondence; MPs and constituents; Treat Officials; and Parliamentary Questions.• Identified weaknesses in the current arrangements for managing and resolving Information Access Requests and reported these to appropriate colleagues within the Information Governance Team.
