I am passionate about advocating for pediatric patients and medical professionals because I am a pediatric cancer survivor of over a decade. In my life I have volunteered much of my time to advocate for pediatric patients as I represented groups such as The American Cancer Society and Cool Kids Campaign while serving on Johns Hopkins Teen Advisory Council. I am seeking to make a career out of advocacy for pediatric patients and caretakers, combining this passion with my passions for policy, government, and law. I am currently pursuing a degree in Political Science with a minor in Health, Society, and Policy to support my future work in this field. In my education I have furthered my governmental, legal, and sociological skills. Additionally, I am involved with advocacy groups such as Colleges Against Cancer and our Student Philanthropy Club in which I work in Communications and Events respectively. I also have the experience of studying abroad at our Rome Campus for a semester where I expanded my understanding of policy and law globally through a Comparative Constitutional Law course.I have previously worked on Katie Curran O'Malley's campaign for Maryland's Attorney General. I was attracted to her campaign because of her valuing of equity in healthcare. In this role I developed my communication and teamworking skills. I learned the functions of a campaign and assisted in its work. Notably, I led a team in strategizing and placing polling signs for Harford County Maryland that contributed to her win in the county.I currently work as a Summer Intern for The Center for American Progress, a 501(c)3 that promotes progressive policy initiatives and education. In this role I support the operations of CAP in fulfilling its mission. I am developing my teamworking, events, and logistic skills in this role as I familiarize myself with the world of policy advocacy. As a current undergraduate student and intern in Washington, DC.
