Shift supervisor working 10pm to 6am Monday to Friday, despite the title of shift my supervisor my role pertained more to shift manager, managing a team of 6 my role included:Safety checks, Health and safety of all staffQuality checks to ensure products confirmed to customer specifications Assigning staff to roles to ensure maximum productivity Accurately accounting for use of raw materials and calculating ratio of raw materials used in comparison to finished productsAccurately detailing finished stock and logging amounts to warehouse to assist with despatch This was a challenging role as the organisation had not previously operated on a 24 hour production basis, the team I had consisted of 3 agency staff, 2 of which were particularly unreliable and often would not turn in, presenting me with an additional challenge of not only getting to grips with a demanding managerial role but also having to ensure maximum output with minimal staff, this often required me to work in a production role as well as completing my own tasks detailed above, as I was new to the production processes in place in this industry I spent my training period ensuring I fully understand each element of the process and spent time in each work station to ensure on shifts where staff levels were low I was capable to fill their roles to ensure maximum output and to demonstrate to staff that I as a supervisor was willing to do any task given to them, this helped develop a rapport and engender respect, despite being in the role for a short period I gained knowledge of best practices within a modern food production plant and developed my managerial skills. I relished the challenge in this role and only left due to a family bereavement so I could fully focus fully on my masters
