Generally speaking, I consider myself an engineering analyst with a heavy focus on structural mechanics and, to a secondary degree, fluid mechanics. Over the years, I've worked on a wide array of projects ranging from simple bolted joint safety factor calculations, all the way up to extreme deformation blast wave propagation. My central drive is to use physics to understand the world around us in a more detailed manner. And along the way, I enjoy programming solutions (VBA, python, C++, bash) that help to make life simpler for an analyst. These include more efficiently exploring unknowns in a parameter space, automating the creation of impactful charts to make simulation results more approachable, as well as plug-ins to help speed up repetitive tasks in everyday simulation prep.

Primary charge:Deliverance of critical engineering results from fluid (CFD) and structural (FEA) simulations using Simulia software (Abaqus, SOLIDWORKS Simulation, 3DExperience). Heavy emphasis on CAD to CAE simulation connections for rapid virtual prototyping. Ultimately, derive solutions to improve the mechanical characteristics of customer’s products and advance their level of design and simulation methods.Specialties:Parameterized Abaqus Simulations, 3DExperience Mesh Creation, SOLIDWORKS Design, CATIA Design

Functioned both as a graduate teaching assistant and research assistant. Primarily served as an interface for distance learning students in 500-level nuclear engineering course. Aided in the education of Nuclear Physics and Effects-based curriculum. On the research side, I investigated the intricacies of coupled radiation-hydrodynamic simulations leading to two conference presentations (ANS Student 2021 & MCNP User Symposium 2021) as well as my master's thesis.

During this role, I hosted weekly supplemental instruction lessons, consistently graded according to set rubrics, and provided direct feedback to students on problem areas. However, this role diverged from a typical TA experience when the Spring 2020 semester was transitioned to an online distance-learning format. Above all, this role taught me the importance of resilience and flexibility to a job-description that constantly changes with the modern world.
Remote
This role allowed me to gain experience with Remote Work: the internet connectivity issues, the communication needs for work expectations/requirements, and ultimately the self-driven pace of remote work. The largest project undertaken at the time was a work flow automation in Excel using VBA Routines which connected information from BOM forms to Customer Quote Sheets and Company logs. This effort reduced the time spent by account managers duplicating customer information from one form to the next.

This co-op rotation gave me direct experience in statistical process control within a developmental foundry for jet engine high pressure turbine blades. Most days were spent gathering data from process inspection points, analyzing points of failure for parts, and determining which process deviations were likely contributing to higher product fallout rates. Data included ceramic CMM surface scanning, metal CT cavity imaging, and metal blue-light surface imaging. Data analysis consisted of parametric studies via Minitab software, ultimately leading to a CNC rework for an individual injection mold die that created product deviation.

This co-op rotation focused on the fast-paced environment of Additive Manufacturing. During this time, my primary charge consisted of the introduction of a new DLP modality that would eventually replace the the plant's SLA resin printers. For this to occur, I spent my time conducting Design of Experiment procedures analyzing the effect of input parameters (cure time, resin viscosity, constituent molecules in resin, etc.) on output parameters of interest (Viscoelastic Strength properties, Dimensional Accuracy at print, Shrink factor, etc.)Bottom-line, this experience taught me how to approach a problem systematically and gather results in a field of knowledge I had minimal experience before going into.
