I have been practicing law for over 19 years. I began my legal career as a Navy Judge Advocate where I acted as a criminal defense attorney and a legal assistance attorney. I then advised the Commanding Officer of an aircraft carrier on military justice. Other duties included representing the command at administrative hearings, answering congressional inquiries and reviewing command investigations.After being released from active duty, I was in private practice for over 6 years representing clients in civil and criminal litigation. I practiced in family law, personal injury, criminal, contracts, employment law and administrative law.Through my affiliation with the Navy reserve, I was mobilized in 2010 in support of Operations New Dawn and Enduring Freedom. I advised Navy Commands on military justice, ethics and various federal acts and regulations. Upon return form mobilization I accepted a position with a District Attorneys office where I prosecuted felony cases and presented cases to the Grand Jury for prosecution.I accepted a 3 year recall to active duty providing legal and ethics advice to a two star command. In my role as legal adviser, I reviewed and provided input on documents to be used by Sailors in the Fleet, reviewed treaties and created a desk book to be used by Senior officers on treaty obligations at remote posts. I provided operational law advice for a course for propsective Commanding Officers. Mobilized to active duty supporting a Joint Command overseeing the processing of National Security assets. I supervised 3 attorneys and 4 paralegals.
